From customer journeys and conversion strategy to CRM
systems, data and automation.
My CRM work combines a broad background in marketing, campaign management, audience engagement and business intelligence with
hands-on CRM, Marketing Operations and MarTech experience. Recent engagements with organisations in the US and Canada have involved designing CRM strategy, customer and prospect journeys, conversion architecture, large-scale contact database operations, audience segmentation, lead generation, lifecycle marketing and HubSpot automation.
I work across the complete CRM operating model: understanding the audience and commercial objective, designing the journey, structuring the data, defining the conversion process, building the operational workflow and connecting the technology required to make it work. This includes
CRM strategy and operating-model design as well as practical implementation across HubSpot, marketing automation and connected MarTech systems.
My recent work builds on eight years of email marketing and campaign management and combines two complementary areas of practical CRM
experience: the 2026 PAS engagement, which expanded my work across CRM strategy, data operations, segmentation, lifecycle marketing, demand generation and conversion architecture; and the Parker HR engagement, which provided hands-on experience designing and implementing end-to-end CRM and MarTech automation. This work is supported by 22+ HubSpot certifications and a Salesforce CRM & Sales Operations Professional Certificate.
I have intensively used CRM tools such as Hubspot, Salesforce, Dripify, Extrovert, Make, Calendly, Mail, Google Sheets and Drive, Slack, Proton, LucidChart, Trello, and other tools.
DATA → AUDIENCE → LIFECYCLE
CAPTURE → SEGMENT → NURTURE → CONVERT
Designing the Journey
CRM strategy starts before anything is built in the CRM.
The starting point is the audience, proposition and desired
business outcome. From there, I design the journey: how prospects are acquired, what they see, what information is captured, how they are classified, what happens next, and how the relationship progresses towards conversion.
My recent work has involved designing journeys across LinkedIn, websites, landing pages, lead magnets, forms, email, Calendly and HubSpot — connecting individual marketing activities into a coherent CRM and
lifecycle architecture. The objective is not simply to create a funnel or a sequence of communications. It is to design an operating model for the relationship.
PROJECT 01 — US based global company CRM Strategy, Data Operations & Conversion Architecture
Background
A US-based People Analytics organisation was developing its
approach to prospect acquisition, audience development and coaching conversion.
The organisation had access to a substantial prospect
universe, but the challenge was larger than simply finding more contacts. The
opportunity was to determine how a large and relatively raw contact population could be transformed into structured, prioritised audiences capable of supporting CRM-led relationship marketing.
The Challenge
The work involved connecting several different elements:
15,000+ contacts → data preparation → audience definition →
segmentation → lead generation → CRM capture → nurture → coaching conversion
This required both strategic thinking and practical CRM
operations. I worked across the prospect journey from the underlying data through to the eventual conversion environment, considering not only who should be targeted, but also why, with what proposition, through which channel and into what subsequent CRM journey.
My Role
My work included:
Large-scale contact database preparation
Data cleaning and quality improvement
Duplicate identification and deduplication
Contact classification and structuring
Contact enrichment
Audience segmentation
Persona and audience definition
Prospect prioritisation
LinkedIn prospect identification
Lead-generation strategy
Lead-magnet development
Content-led acquisition
Conversion architecture
Landing-page and HubSpot form planning
CRM contact capture
Lifecycle and nurture planning
Email campaign architecture
Coaching conversion journeys
Permission and engagement strategy
CRM activation planning
Funnel and conversion forecasting
From Database to CRM Strategy
A key part of the work was separating the raw prospect
universe from the contacts that could realistically be activated immediately.
The database contained approximately 15,000 contacts, requiring substantial preparation before it could support meaningful CRM activity.
Rather than treating the spreadsheet as the finished
product, I treated it as the input to a CRM operating environment.
The work therefore moved through:
RAW DATA → CLEAN DATA → CLASSIFICATION → SEGMENTATION →
PRIORITISATION → CRM ACTIVATION
Approximately 650 contacts represented a more immediately
usable engagement population, providing a practical starting point for
permission, relationship-building and subsequent campaign activity.
Audience & Lifecycle Architecture
I developed audience structures around different People
Analytics needs, including:
Emerging functional practitioners
Functional leaders
Senior organisational development leaders
This allowed the CRM strategy to move beyond generic mass communication towards audience-specific propositions, content and journeys.
Several lead-generation assets were developed to support this architecture, including five created by me:
Additional example lead magnets were also supplied for reference.
The resulting approach connected content, audience, CRM
capture and subsequent relationship development:
AUDIENCE → RELEVANT PROPOSITION → LEAD MAGNET → CAPTURE →
SEGMENTATION → NURTURE → CONVERSION
Conversion Architecture
The final architecture connected multiple acquisition and
conversion routes into a common CRM environment.
LinkedIn → Landing Page / Booking → HubSpot → Segmentation →
Nurture / Sales Outreach → Coaching
The model allowed different audiences to enter through
different routes while retaining their relationship within the CRM environment
for future communication, nurture and re-engagement.
What This Project Demonstrates
The PAS engagement brought together capabilities across:
CRM Strategy | CRM Data Operations | Segmentation |
Lifecycle Marketing | Lead Generation | Demand Generation | Content-Led Growth | Conversion Architecture | HubSpot CRM | Audience Prioritisation
It demonstrated that effective CRM is not simply about having a database or automating emails. It is about connecting data, audience, proposition, journey and technology into an operating model capable of supporting growth.
CONVERSION FLOW IMAGE
Turning Strategy into Working Systems
CRM strategy becomes valuable when it can operate reliably
in the real world. My CRM Operations work translates business requirements and customer journeys into working workflows, automation, data processes and MarTech integrations.
This includes process architecture, workflow design, conditional logic, task routing, CRM data flows, communications, system integrations and human hand-offs.
The principle is simple: Study, plan and design the right process first. Then automate the parts that should be automated.
PROJECT 02 — A Pan CANADIAN company based in Vancouver
End-to-End CRM & Marketing Automation
Background
A Canadian organisation required a more structured and automated client acquisition and delivery process. The existing journey involved multiple stages and systems, from initial booking and validation through to proposals, contracts, follow-up and eventual completion.
The challenge was to translate this business process into a connected CRM and automation architecture.
My Role
I mapped the complete client lifecycle and designed the
operational workflow across:
Calendly
Make.com
HubSpot
AI-assisted call recording/transcription
Automated documentation
Proposals
Contracts
Follow-up communications
Surveys
Task allocation
Internal hand-offs
The architecture incorporated multi-step workflows,
conditional logic, If/Then routing and automated task allocation, allowing
different paths to be followed depending on the status and requirements of the client.
End-to-End Process
BOOKING → VALIDATION → CRM → AI-ASSISTED PROCESSING →
PROPOSAL → CONTRACT → FOLLOW-UP → SURVEY → HANDOVER
The work went beyond connecting individual applications. I mapped the dependencies between stages and considered which actions should be
automated, where human intervention remained necessary, what data needed to move between systems and how the process should behave when requirements changed.
The architecture also incorporated sequenced follow-up, including longer-term follow-up journeys, client surveys, project completion and hand-off.
Evolution of the Automation
The project required working with international partners to understand changing requirements and the constraints of the existing automation architecture. As my understanding of the systems and requirements developed, I was able to identify where the existing approach needed to be redesigned. I subsequently stepped in to rebuild key elements of the automation architecture, restructuring the workflows around the actual operational requirements.
The result was a more structured operational environment in which repetitive process steps could be handled automatically, while people retained control at the points where judgement, communication or intervention were required.
What This Project Demonstrates
The Canadian engagement demonstrates practical capability
across:
CRM Operations | Workflow Design | Marketing Automation |
MarTech Integration | HubSpot | Make.com | Calendly | Conditional Logic |
Process Architecture | AI-Assisted Operations | Lifecycle Automation
It provides the operational counterpart to the strategic and
data work demonstrated by the PAS engagement.
Process Map
From Raw Data to Usable CRM Information
Data is the foundation on which CRM strategy and automation
operate.
My CRM data work includes large-scale contact database
management, cleaning, deduplication, classification, enrichment, segmentation and preparation for CRM activation.
The objective is not simply to maintain a larger database. It is to create data that can support audience selection, prioritisation,
personalisation, campaign execution, lifecycle management and measurable
conversion activity.
My approach is therefore:
DATA QUALITY → STRUCTURE → CLASSIFICATION → SEGMENTATION →
ACTIVATION
This is where my CRM work also benefits from my wider background in intelligence and structured business information management: I am
comfortable working with large, imperfect datasets and turning them into
information that can support operational decisions.
The Communications Foundation
My CRM work builds on eight years of email marketing and
campaign management. This involved recurring communications supporting awareness, audience engagement, events, participation, membership, sponsorship and revenue-related activity.
Campaigns were designed to encourage specific behaviour —
from attending events and engaging with content to participating in programmes, maintaining relationships and responding to commercial or organisational calls to action.
This experience provides the communications foundation
behind my CRM and lifecycle work: understanding the audience, developing the proposition, selecting the right message, segmenting the audience and
connecting communication to the wider journey.
Lifecycle thinking also means looking beyond the communication itself to the product, service or proposition that sits behind the customer journey.
I first get to know the product, service or proposition from the customer perspective, using it where possible to understand how it works in practice and how the experience feels. I then bring that direct experience together with my own professional experience, UX and CX perspective, and compare it with competing propositions and market practice. From there, I look at what is happening across the customer journey, where there are strengths, weaknesses or gaps, and what could potentially be improved, extended or presented differently. This can lead to ideas around new or adapted offerings, product-line opportunities, and ways of connecting the proposition more effectively to acquisition, conversion and lifecycle activity.
This gives my CRM approach a broader perspective: not simply
asking how should we communicate this?, but also is this the right
proposition, what else could we offer, and how would customers discover,
evaluate and ultimately buy it?
This product-oriented thinking has informed project work and
academic marketing research, including product and portfolio recommendations developed from customer, market and competitive perspectives.
My CRM capability has developed across both strategy and
implementation.
Recent work has expanded my experience across:
CRM strategy and operating-model design
HubSpot CRM
Marketing automation
CRM data management
Large-scale contact databases
Audience segmentation
Lifecycle marketing
Lead management and qualification
Lead generation and demand generation
Conversion optimisation
MarTech process architecture
CRM-to-campaign architecture
Workflow and sequence design
Calendly → Make.com → HubSpot integration
AI-assisted marketing operations
Process automation
Marketing reporting and optimisation
Product, service and programme journey design
The result is a broad CRM / Marketing Operations capability
spanning strategy, data, customer journeys, technology and execution.
Continuing CRM & Marketing Operations Development
My practical CRM work is supported by continuing technical
development across CRM, Marketing Operations, automation and sales operations.
HubSpot — 22+ certifications
Salesforce — CRM & Sales Operations Professional
Certificate
These certifications complement practical project experience
across CRM strategy, data operations, marketing automation, lifecycle design
and MarTech integration.
MY CRM JOURNEY
My CRM journey combines several strands of experience that
have progressively come together.
My earlier marketing and communications work developed a
strong understanding of audiences, campaigns, propositions, engagement and
behavioural calls to action.
My business intelligence and intelligence background
developed capabilities in large-scale information management, data structuring,
segmentation, analysis, systematic dissemination and complex stakeholder
environments.
The Parker HR engagement developed my practical capability
in CRM operations, workflow automation and MarTech integration.
The 2026 PAS engagement expanded this into CRM strategy,
large-scale data operations, audience architecture, lifecycle marketing, demand
generation, lead magnets and conversion strategy.
Together, these experiences give me a CRM perspective that
spans the complete journey:
UNDERSTAND THE AUDIENCE
DESIGN THE JOURNEY
STRUCTURE THE DATA
DEFINE THE CONVERSION MODEL
BUILD THE CRM PROCESS
CONNECT THE TECHNOLOGY
AUTOMATE WHERE IT ADDS VALUE
MEASURE, LEARN & IMPROVE
That is how I approach CRM: not simply as a database or an
email platform, but as the operating environment connecting customer journeys,
marketing activity, data, technology and business processes.
