About me
About me
Overview
I’m an experienced and insightful lead analyst and team lead with 20+ years in international marketing, marketing operations, strategy, and deep, high-level, multi-disciplinary intelligence expertise across global corporations, SMEs, major government agencies, and NGOs.
I have an additional 8+ years managing full-spectrum digital marketing, web operations, CRM, marketing automation, and communications, rounding out a career built on both hands-on execution and strategic oversight.
A further string in my bow is 4+ years in product selection and purchasing as a buyer at government and university levels, providing operational oversight and process-driven decision-making across three distinct customer areas.
I am a shrewd, creative, meta-strategic, predictive, and multidisciplinary thinker, with vivid visual intuition, skilled at anticipating challenges, analysing complex situations, and delivering high-impact intelligence as well as innovative marketing and operations solutions. Highly qualified and experienced, I excel at connecting insights, spotting trends, and creating actionable strategies that drive measurable impact.
Colleagues describe me as highly analytical, deeply curious, versatile, tenacious, distinctive, unconventional, and results-oriented, with the focus and decisiveness to deliver in high-stakes environments.
Having lived and worked in Berlin for over 25 years, I bring not just extensive cross-cultural and international experience, but deep, grounded familiarity with the local market, ecosystem, and culture. I studied German up to C2 level and currently use it at around C1, enabling me to operate effectively in German-speaking professional environments.
Background
I’m a British–German marketing specialist and intelligence analyst based in Berlin, where I’ve lived since 1999. I’ve spent roughly half my life abroad in a bilingual environment, which has shaped how I think, communicate, and work across cultures.
I grew up in sub-tropical Cornwall in the UK, in a two SME environment that included a B2C holiday rental converted barn and a B2B small award-winning, multi-faceted international design consultancy pioneering design and visitor interpretation across diverse fields.
Life with this background on a rugged, windswept clifftop self-sufficiency smallholding 300 feet above the wild Atlantic — complete with a wide menagerie of tame and semi tame animals and long views out to sea — meant being surrounded early on by diverse people, situations, skills, and ideas, teaching me to think independently, decisively and quickly, but also deeply (whether taking in 40 km horizon views or navigating three weeks of highly dense fog with the foghorn blaring).
This environment provided intensive multi operational training from an early age, exposing me to complex workflows, customer experience, pricing, price elasticity, scarcity, and hands-on problem-solving in challenging, high-pressure settings. Building on this foundation through a wide range of demanding summer and professional roles — from managing rapid changeover days and coordinating multiple operational functions simultaneously, to ensuring service and quality standards, and leading sections in theme park operations with queue management, efficiency optimisation, and pricing and process input — I developed a highly adaptable operations skill set that underpins my marketing, intelligence, and leadership expertise and enables me to thrive in diverse, high-stakes environments.
Later roles in operations across local businesses, government FMU purchasing units, and London SME and city development projects built further on this foundation, deepening my expertise in operational strategy, process optimisation, and stakeholder management, and leading naturally into SME support and an ever-deeper focus on intelligence, insight, and data-driven decision-making.
I’ve always loved storytelling and solutions, and taking the time to think things through — a habit formed early, learning how reflection can turn complexity into clarity and action. Growing up around renaissance-type people with multiple skills encouraged curiosity, adaptability, and an interdisciplinary way of working.
I’m naturally curious and hold degrees across multiple disciplines, bringing a wide-ranging skill set across B2B and B2C contexts. Professionally, I have 20+ years’ experience in marketing and intelligence roles across international enterprises, SMEs, government, and NGOs, alongside 8+ years managing digital web and email communications.
In marketing, I’ve built email newsletters and digital campaigns that cultivated loyal, long-standing audiences. I’ve led high-stakes campaigns where operational changes demanded rapid adjustments, yet engagement and trust were maintained throughout. My work spans digital marketing, CRM, inbound marketing, UX, content strategy, and customer experience (CX), consistently blending insight, creativity, and measurable results.
In intelligence, I’m known for combining inquisitive analytical rigour with strategic insight and creative thought. I approach problems from every angle and I don’t stop until I have delivered actionable solutions. I obtain and analyse elusive, complex information, transforming it into clear, practical, and results-driven disseminated outcomes. I’ve handled highly sensitive intelligence challenges, earning senior-level enterprise and government recognition for rigour, speed, accuracy, discretion, and persistence.
Many times, I’ve gone above and beyond to produce breakthrough intelligence dossiers that not only delivered critical, actionable insights but also surprised and startled intelligence colleagues.
In addition, my internal intelligence publications—such as a highly regarded, long-lived competitive intelligence newsletter—were recommended at the highest levels, including shared between C-suite executives on the golf course. On several occasions, my intelligence findings have triggered urgent attention and ripple reaction from senior enterprise leadership throughout the organisation.
My work spans a wide range of sectors, and I’m particularly interested in how insight, data, and narrative come together to inform strategy, drive engagement, and support better decisions.
